Please give a brief history of the band, including current line up.

THE UNDEAD was formed in late 1980, after I was kicked out of THE MISFITS. Within a few months, we were the most talked aobut band on the New York Punk scene, and we began getting offers to open for many big acts, like THE DAMNED/DICTATORS and DEAD KENNEDY'S. Our first release, NINE TOES LATER was released in summer 1982 on STIFF RECORDS. Over the next 15 years, it's been up and down. In 1989 we released ACT YOUR RAGE - which sold over 6,000 copies in two weeks, and broke the 10,000 mark within 8 months - all without distribution. There is only one current member...me. For the past two-years, I've been touring with various backing bands.

Discogrpahy.

There are also reissues, compilations and soundtracks.

Has any band member played in other bands, if so what?

I was in THE MISFITS. I also play bass in TIMES SQUARE. Previous members have been in THE CYCLE SLUTS FROM HELL, U.S. CHAOS, FAHRENHEIT 451, COP SHOOT COP, SAMHAIN, SLOPPY SECONDS, THE MIGRAINES...AND ON AND ON...

If you could see any band play live, either of the past or present who would it be?

I was planning on seeing THE VIBRATORS at CBGB's tonight, but they cancelled. I really wanted to see them, because PURE MANIA is one of my top 5 favorite records. Another band I wish I could've seen was THE BEATLES.

What is the favourite song (and what band is it by) of each member of the band?

That changes with my mood.

If you could be any age again, what would it be and why?

I don't know. I still feel like I'm 16. I've never gotten past that mentality. I look at it as a state of mind.

Do you still go and see other punk/oi bands when they play in your area? If so, what was the last band you saw?

I go to shows, occaisionally. I'm banned from most of the clubs in New York - so I miss most of the big shows. I think the last show I went to was SEBASTIAN BACH's new band.

What is the Punk/Oi scene like in your area?

IT sucks. It's pretty much everything that punk is against. We have a club here, that's owned by a band, and they won't book any competing local bands. They just pay ridiculous money to bring major acts in - so they can kiss ass and get an opening slot on that band's tour. Even though the plce only holds about 200 people, they'll outbid ROSELAND - which holds 3,000. Then, they have local bands play and they don't pay them. Basically, every band in New York is being used to subsidize this one band's attemps at schmoozing with the big shots. There's an elite attitude going on, and I don't want to have anything to do with it.

Plans, gigs and releases planned for 99.

I don't like to talk about plans. Everyone has plans. I'd rather talk about accomplishments.

Any final comments?

Our stuff is almost impossible to find in Europe. We don't have a label out there. Anything you see over there is bootleg - even the Overground stuff. Those were supposed to be LTD Editions, but every time I turn around there are more copies surfacing. Don't buy them - we're not getting paid. If you have a label, and would like to license any of our material - you must talk to me. I'm the only one who can give permission to use our music. Even that ALIVE video...that was released without permission. I can be reached at P.O. BOX 358, NEW MILFORD, NJ 07646
